Two charged after car stolen in burglary

Dated: 29 Feb 2012

Police have arrested two men after a car was stolen in a Newcastle burglary.

At 3.25am on Tuesday, February 28, police received a report of a car driving erratically on the A1 near Gosforth.

Officers attended and attempted to stop the car but it made off and was later found to have crashed on the roundabout at the junction with the A69.

Enquiries revealed the car had been stolen from a house at Station Road in Kenton Bank Foot. Offenders had got into the house through an insecure door and stolen the car keys before making off in the BMW from the drive.

Two men have been charged with burglary and aggravated vehicle taking. One has also been charged with motoring offences. They are both going through the court process.
