Cars damaged in Fenham

Police are appealing for witnesses after cars were damaged in Fenham, Newcastle.

Overnight on Sunday, February 26 into Monday, February 27, eight cars were damaged in nearby streets - four at Two Ball Lonnen, three at Whittington Grove and one at Lonnen Avenue.

The paintwork was scratched on the vehicles. In one instance an offensive word was scratched into the paintwork.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC Martine Coxon, from the Newcastle West Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "It's possible the offenders see this as some sort of prank but it's extremely distressing for the car owners as well as being costly and frustrating.

"We're carrying out enquiries to trace the offender or offenders and they can rest assured we take damage to people's property extremely seriously.

"I'd urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about who is responsible to contact police as soon as possible."
