Cyclist assaulted in Bedlington

Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was assaulted in Bedlington.

At 11:15pm on Monday, April 2, a cyclist was travelling in Bedlington Front Street when a car pulled alongside him.

A passenger in the car then leant out of the window and struck him with an object.

This caused the cyclist to come off his bike.

The car then fled the scene towards Horton Road and Bedlington Bank. The cyclist was not seriously injured.

The car is described as being a small dark coloured hatch back. The driver and the passenger are both thought to be male.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who was in Bedlington on Monday evening and who may have seen the car or who has any information into the incident is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
