Man assaulted in Throckley

A man was assaulted after disturbing intruders on his property in Newcastle.
Between 1am and 1.30am this morning, Monday, April 16, a man walking back to his home address at Ponteland Road in Throckley, disturbed two men outside his property and chased them off.
During the incident one of the men turned and punched the victim, a man aged in his 60s, in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. He suffered injuries to his shoulder and lip and was treated at the RVI before being discharged.
