Aggravated burglary in Cleadon

Police are carrying out enquiries following a report of an aggravated burglary in Cleadon, South Tyneside.
At 2:27am on Friday, May 4, police received a report that a man entered a house in Whitburn Road and struck the homeowner in the shoulder with a weapon - believed to be a hammer.
The man stole a small amount of cash then left the house - possibly in a car.
The man is described as being white, over 6ft, of thin build and with dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing and spoke with a local Sunderland accent.
The occupant, a man, suffered minor shoulder injuries and was treated at hospital.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles or people in the area around the time of the incident to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
