Pigeons stolen from coop

Police are appealing for witnesses after pigeons were stolen from a coop in Newcastle.

It happened between 9.30pm on May 27, and 1.30am on May 28, when 37 pigeons were stolen from a coop in the rear garden of a house at Normanton Terrace in the west end.

The birds are valued at almost £2,000.

PC Stu Baird said: "The theft appears to have taken place late at night and I'd appeal for any witnesses or anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area to contact police. In total 37 birds were stolen and it's probable a vehicle will have been used."
