Two arrested, Gateshead

Two men have been arrested and charged following a police investigation into house burglaries in the Low Fell and Beacon Lough areas of Gateshead.

Detectives from the South Neighbourhood Police Team made the arrests on Sunday, December 2.
Alan Richardson, 26, of Armitage Gardens, Eighton Banks, Gateshead, has been charged with one offence of burglary.

Shaun Hughes, 25, of Clarke Terrace, Felling, has been charged in connection with three burglaries, an offence of aggravated vehicle taking and various other traffic offences.

Both men appeared before Gateshead Magistrates today, Tuesday, December 4.

Gateshead South Neighbourhood Inspector Ged Noble, said: "Burglary is a particularly despicable crime which has a huge effect on the victims and we've worked tirelessly to gather evidence in this case.

"Although I'm pleased with recent arrests we will not be complacent and I have put extra officers in the area to provide a visible presence.
