Man assaulted in Wallsend

At 4pm on Wednesday, May 14, police were informed of an incident in Priors Way in Wallsend. Officers attended and it appears there has been an argument between two men resulting in one of the men, aged 28, suffering a stab wound. He has been taken to hospital for treatment where is condition is thought to be stable. Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and to trace the offender, and are asking any witnesses to contact them.

Extra police are in the area.

Chief Inspector Graham Watson said: "Enquiries to establish what has happened are very much in the early stages and we would ask any witnesses to get in contact. Extra police are in the area carrying out enquiries and to offer reassurance to the local community."
