Fire at house in North Shields

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire at a house in North Shields.

The fire happened at 12.40pm on Sunday, August 24, at an address in Cornhill Close in North Shields.

Damage was caused to the inside of the property. One man, aged 51, was in the property and received medical treatment for smoke inhalation.

Officers believe the fire was started maliciously and are treating it as arson.

A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fire.
