Burglary advice for residents
Dated: 21 Nov 2009
Police in Whitley Bay are advising residents and local business people to make sure their doors and windows are kept secure after a number of burglaries in the area.
Over the last week officers have dealt with four offences, two house burglaries plus another two attempted crimes. This has led to three men being arrested, two have been charged with burglary and one bailed while enquiries continue.
Neighbourhood Inspector Jim Gray said: "I don't want to unnecessarily alarm people, particularly as we have significantly reduced the number of burglaries in the area during the past year, but it's important to make sure your homes and businesses are secure."
