City centre pubs crackdown
Dated: 05 Feb 2010
Northumbria Police is targeting licensed premises in Sunderland City Centre in a new campaign to make the city even safer.
Over the next few weeks, extra officers from Sunderland Area Command will be on patrol during the cities busiest times - Friday, Saturday and Monday nights - to make sure the cities licensed premises are complying with their licence. Police will also be making sure door staff hold a valid licence.
During the first weekend of the campaign a number of licensed premises were visited which resulted in a closure order issued to one and two door staff being arrested for not having a valid licence.
