Dated: 07 Feb 2010

Police in Newcastle recovered counterfeit clothing in a search on a Newcastle shop.

They searched the shop, in Elswick, after they received information about fake designer clothing being sold from the premises.

In a joint operation with Trading Standards Officers local officers acted on information passed to them by the area command's Intelligence Unit to recover 24 suspected fake McKenzie Jumpers.

The raid took place at around 11.30am on Wednesday January 13.

The seizure comes just three weeks after officers recovered £100,000 worth of counterfeit property from a shop on Shields Road, Byker, including thousands of bracelet charms, 100 pairs of jeans and more than 75 pairs of boots and trainers.

Anyone with information about counterfeit clothing being sold in the city should contact police on 03456 043 043.
