Fenham and Scotswood residents urged to get online

Dated: 07 Feb 2010

Residents in Fenham and Scotswood are being urged to have their say on crime from the comfort of their own home as Northumbria Police's virtual meetings continue across Newcastle.

Acting Neighbourhood Inspector Steve Ammari will log on to the meeting to speak directly to local residents about crime and disorder in their community.

The two-hour web chat will takes place on Tuesday night (February 9), between 7pm and 9pm.

The meetings give residents the chance to raise any concerns they may have about crime in their neighbourhood, and ask questions.

The virtual meetings have just been launched in Newcastle and last week's Benwell and Elswick event was a success.

Acting Insp Ammari said: "This is an easy way for people to keep in touch with their Neighbourhood team and get information and advice. I'd encourage people to log on on Tuesday night."

The first series of meetings taking place are:

  • Blakelaw, Kenton and Fawdon – Tuesday February 16 – 7pm to 9pm

  • Gosforth and Great Park – Tuesday February 23 – 7pm to 9pm

  • Outer West (including Lemington, Throckley, Denton and Westerhope) – Tuesday March 2 – 7pm to 9pm

  • Byker and Walker - Tuesday March 9 – 7pm to 9pm

  • Jesmond and Heaton – Tuesday March 16 – 7pm to 9pm
