Get to know your local officers

Dated: 09 Feb 2010

Jarrow residents are being given a further opportunity to have a chat with police at their local community centre.

Due to the success of recent engagement sessions at Hedworthfield Community Centre, Fellgate Estate, more dates have been added to give people a chance to meet their local officers.

A new session has also been set up at Jarrow library to engage with even more residents.

People attending the events can also raise any issues they have which will be acted on by police, plus hear about policing in their neighbourhood.

Community Support Officer Chris Howe, who attends the sessions, said: "These events have proved to be such a success and we have been given positive feedback from staff at Hedworthfield Community Centre as well as its users that we decided to add more dates plus have further meetings at Jarrow Library, Cambrian Street.

"They have allowed us to connect with members of the community who we may not have come into contact with during our regular patrols.

"The sessions have also given us valuable intelligence to assist with policing in the community.

"We would encourage as many people as possible to come along and speak to us and help shape policing in their area."

Sessions at Hedworthfield Community Centre will take place from 6pm to 8pm on:

  • Monday, February 22

  • Tuesday, February 23

  • Wednesday, February 24

  • Monday, March 1

  • Tuesday, March 2

  • Friday, March 5

Sessions at Jarrow Library will take place on:

  • Wednesday, February 10, from 10am to 12pm

  • Friday, February 12, from 10am to 12pm

  • Monday, February 22, from 3pm to 5pm
