Witness appeal after two robberies

Police in Sunderland are appealing for witnesses following two robberies in Shiney Row.
The first robbery happened at 9.40pm on Monday February 8, when a 43-year-old woman was walking along The Harbour, in Shiney Row.
A man, who was holding a knife, approached her from behind and demanded that she hand over her purse. The woman handed over the purse and the man ran off down Thirlmere Crescent. The woman was left shaken by the incident but otherwise uninjured.The second robbery happened when a 58-year-old man was walking near to Oxford Terrace, Shiney Row at about 10.10pm on Monday. He was approached by a man, who was holding what is believed to be a kitchen knife, from behind. The offender demanded that the man hand over his wallet, which he refused causing the offender to walk off in the direction of Oxford Terrace flats. The man was left shaken but uninjured.
Officers investigating the robberies believe they may be linked.
