Jewellery taken in Berwick burglary

Dated: 01 Mar 2010

Police are appealing for information from the public after a 90-year-old woman had jewellery taken in a break-in in Berwick.

At sometime between midnight Friday, February 19 and 8.20am on Monday, February 22, thieves have broken into a house in the Prior Park estate in Tweedmouth. Once inside they stole jewellery before making off.

DC Alan Bogle, Berwick CID, said: "We have arrested one man in connection with this burglary but still need members of the public to come forward with any information. I'd urge anyone who was in the area that weekend and who saw anyone acting suspiciously to come forward and speak to us. It's appalling that such a vulnerable and well respected member of society has been the target of a crime like this."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police in Berwick on 03456 043 043 ext 61280 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
