Driving advice for motorists

Northumbria Police is issuing advice for motorists following heavy rain in the region.
There have been reports of large amounts of standing surface water on the roads in areas throughout the force area - particularly on minor routes in rural Northumberland.
Drivers are advised to take care when travelling, reduce their speed and exercise caution on the roads that are affected.
Motorists are asked to allow extra distance between themselves and other vehicles and ensure they use their lights if visibility is an issue.
