Police have recovered a firearm after executing a search warrant in Newcastle.
At just before 9.30am on Thursday, April 26, a warrant was executed at an address at Brecon Close in Newbiggin Hall after the Neighbourhood Policing Team received information about possible criminal activity at the house.
During the search officers recovered a shot gun and 19 cartridges in the loft.
Following enquiries a 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing a shotgun without a certificate and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Newcastle North Neighbourhood Inspector Julie Rana said: "We reacted to information received and executed a search warrant, which has seen the recovery of a shotgun at the property.
"This demonstrates we will act on any information we receive about crime and disorder in the community and I'd urge people to get in touch with us to report suspicious activity."
