Three arrested after assault

Police have arrested three men after an assault in Gateshead.

At 1.36am on Wednesday, May 2, police received a report of a disturbance at Warwick Court. Police and the ambulance service attended and a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to a puncture wound to his chest and an injury to his face. His condition is not life threatening.

It's believed the injuries were caused with a knife.

Police arrested two men aged 20 and 21 on suspicion of wounding. A 58-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They are currently in custody.

At this stage the incident is believed to involve people who are known to each other and be domestic-related.
