Man assaulted in city centre

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old man was assaulted in Newcastle City Centre.

The incident happened around 3am on Saturday, April 28, when the man left the O2 Academy in Westgate Road.

The victim was approached and punched in the face and suffered facial injuries.

Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area around where the assault took place and are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.

They are particularly keen to speak to two men who officers believe could have witnessed the attack.

The first is described as being white, aged around 17 - 20 years and who had a plaster cast on his left wrist.
The second - around the same age and who was wearing a bright pink top.
