Four rescued after 4x4 stuck in river

Dated: 10 May 2012

A police cars flashing lights.

At 2:20pm on Thursday, May 10, police received a report of a 4x4 stuck in the river at Bennetts Walk.

Emergency services attended and four people - two adults, two children - and two dogs were rescued by fire service officers and taken safely to land.

They are shaken but unhurt.

The vehicle is currently secured in the water and will be recovered when safe.

It appears the vehicle was taken by swollen water while crossing the ford - drivers are urged to use caution when crossing any water while heavy rain persists.
