Witnesses sought after crash in Hawkhill

Police are appealing for information after a collision in Alnwick.

At 7:55pm on Sunday, July 15, police received a report of a two car collision on the A1068 in Hawkhill, Alnwick.
The vehicles involved were a Honda Civic and a Renault Clio.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the Civic, a 21-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

The passenger from the Civic, a 21-year-old man, was taken to Wansbeck hospital with serious injuries and is still in hospital in a critical, but stable condition.

The Driver of the Clio, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with back and arm injuries and a passenger in the Clio suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed for around four hours to allow for collision investigation to take place.

The driver of the Civic was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Roads Policing Sgt Jason Ryder said: "The Civic was travelling from Warkworth towards Alnwick when the collision happened and enquiries to establish how the collision occurred are ongoing.

"We are appealing for anyone who was on the road around the time of the collision and who saw what happened to contact us with any information.

"We believe there was a dark coloured car in convoy with the Civic shortly before the collision and they may have seen what happened.

"We are in the process of identifying the driver and I'd urge them, or anyone who was there at the time of the crash, to contact us as soon as possible."
