Fire at Sunderland flats

At 1.30pm today, Friday, August 3, police received a report of a fire in a flat on the 13th floor of a block of flats at Abbs Street, Sunderland. Part of the building was evacuated while the fire was extinguished.

One man has been taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the fire.
