Man assaulted in Gateshead street robbery

Police are appealing for information following a robbery in Gateshead.
It happened at 7pm on Wednesday, August 15, when a man and a teenage boy were waiting on the pavement by the traffic lights on Sunderland Road, opposite Felling Metro Station.
Two men approached them, assaulted the man and stole his mobile phone and then ran off. The man was not seriously hurt and didn't need medical attention.
Officers are keen to trace witnesses, particularly a group of joggers who ran past the scene at the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened.
