Man assaulted in Elswick

At around 11.45pm on Friday, April 11, officers received a report that a 15 year-old youth had been assaulted by a group of men in Elswick.
The 15 year-old boy was taken to hospital with injuries to his eye and nose.
Officers are trying to establish if the attack was racially motivated.
Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and providing reassurance to the local community.
Detective Sergeant Dave English said: "We are still trying to establish the circumstances around this incident and would ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward to police.
"We believe the incident may have been racially motivated but we are looking at all lines of enquiries.
"Our officers are on patrol in the area if anyone has any concerns or information."
