Man arrested following assault

Police have arrested a man following an assault in Gateshead.

At just before 10.55pm, on Friday, May 2, police received a report of a disturbance at an address at Ulverston Gardens.

Officers attended the property where two men, aged 40 and 35, were found with injuries believed to have been caused by a hammer.
 
Both were taken by ambulance to the QE Hospital for treatment to minor head injuries. The 40-year-old victim also suffered a broken hand. The men have now been released from hospital.

A 46-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit GBH. He is currently helping police with enquiries.
