Youth assaulted in North Tyneside

Police are investigating following an assault on a 16-year-old male youth.

Officers were called to a grassed area opposite the Briardene Pub, on The Links, in Whitley Bay, at 11.37pm, on Sunday, May 11, following reports that a youth had been stabbed, suffering a puncture wound.

He was treated by ambulance staff at the scene and taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, where he was released after further treatment.

The teenager had been walking along The Links when he was approached from behind and assaulted by an unknown offender who made off.

Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community.
