Robbery in South Shields

Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a store in South Shields.

It happened just after 7am in Stoddart Street this morning (Monday, June 16). A man went into the store, armed with a knife, and threatened a member of staff. A quantity of cash was stolen.

The member of staff was not injured in the incident.

The man then made off along Stanhope Road towards Vine Street and Olive Street.

He is described as 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 inches tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark hooded top and sunglasses.

Extra police are in the area to carry out enquiries into the robbery and are asking anyone who was in the area this morning and saw anything to contact them.
