Delivery driver robbed

Witnesses are being asked to come forward after a pizza delivery driver was robbed in Sunderland.

Police received a report of the robbery at just after 10.30pm, on Wednesday, August 13.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, was approached by another man on a bike while parked in his vehicle on Market Street, Hetton le Hole.

The offender was armed with a knife and demanded cash from the victim. He was able to grab the knife from him, however, he made off with the delivery man's mobile phone.

He is described as white, aged approximately 30 and of muscular build. He was wearing dark grey bottoms, a dark grey hoody and a black and white checked scarf covering his face.

The victim was shaken but unharmed as a result of the incident.

Enquiries are continuing today and police are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.
