Operation tests out business plans

Dated: 01 Apr 2010

Northumbria Police has helped North Tyneside businesses think about how to deal with a terrorist incident and make sure their emergency plans are up to date.

Businesses from Silverlink Retail Park joined police, North Tyneside Council and other emergency services to take part in Operation Argus, a table top exercise held at Cobalt Business Exchange.

Argus is a National Counter Terrorism Security Office initiative designed to make businesses more aware of the steps they can take to help prevent, handle and recover from a terrorist attack.

The three hour event used images from an overhead projector to set the scene of a possible terrorist attack with experts from emergency services and North Tyneside Council on hand to talk through what steps businesses should take.
