Arrest after city assault

Police have arrested a man after an assault in Newcastle city centre.
At 2.44am on Saturday, April 21, police received information that an assault had taken place at The Gate, where a man had suffered cuts to his face which required stitches.
It's not yet clear how his injuries were caused. He received hospital treatment and is now recovering.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
