Drivers penalty points deadline
Dated: 08 May 2012

Northumbria Police is reminding drivers who pick up penalty points to submit their licence to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), in time.
Figures from the DVLA show that 1,305 drivers in the Northumbria Police region have had their licences revoked over the last 18 months because they failed to send their licence through in time.
Drivers who receive penalties from the courts or the fixed penalty notices for offences that do not result in disqualification, are required to surrender their current valid driving licence for the endorsement to be added within 28 days.
Sergeant Jason Ryder, from the force's Road Safety Unit said: "Penalty points can be issued for a number of offences, not just through speeding, but from having a bald tyre or jumping red traffic lights."
