Garage security advice for Seaton Delaval

Dated: 09 May 2012

Police are reminding householders to keep opportunist thieves at bay after a theft and attempted theft in Seaton Delaval over the weekend.
On Saturday two garages in Acomb Avenue were entered by theives, one of which had been left insecure. Nothing was taken. On the same date a garage door was forced in Denham Drive and power tools stolen.
Cramlington Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Harris said: "It only takes a few seconds for an opportunist thief to get into a garage, house or car and take what's inside.
"Tools are among thieves' favoured items and many people continue to store high value equipment such as these in garages without adequate security.
"Not only that, tools can also be used to commit further crimes such as house burglary.
"By making sure vehicles and buildings are locked even if they're being left for a short time, it can often enough to deter a casual criminal."
Anyone with information about the incidents in Seaton Delaval is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191.
