Wood stolen in East Tynedale
Dated: 09 May 2012
Police are appealing for information after three incidents where wood was stolen in East Tynedale.
Between Thursday April 5 and Tuesday April 10 a total of 30, eight foot high wooden posts were stolen from a building site in Front Street Prudhoe.
Between Sunday April 22 and Saturday, April 29, a total of 50 wooden posts were taken from a field in South Lodge, Wylam.
Between Wednesday, May 2, and Friday, May 4, another 30 six foot wooden planks were stolen from a building site in Ovington.
East Tynedale Neighbourhood Inspector Kevin Oates said: "Due to the size and weight of the items stolen the offenders are obviously using a van, wagon or a flat bed type vehicle to carry out these thefts and I'd appeal to anyone who sees any vehicles or people behaving suspiciously to contact police.
"I'd also ask any builders or anyone who has wood or building materials on site to take steps to protect them. Thieves are looking for easy opportunities and materials left out on show are an invite to criminals."
Anyone with any information into the thefts is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
