Sexual assault on bus

Police are appealing for information after a sexual assault on a bus in Gateshead.
The offence took place around noon on Tuesday August 8 on the number 58 Go North East bus.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl, was on the bus when a man got on at Fewster Square and sat next to her. He then touched her leg and arm in an inappropriate manner. Both people got off the bus at Heworth Metro and the girl lost sight of the man.
The man is described as white, aged in his 60s, with grey/white short hair. He was wearing a dirty green mid-thigh length padded jacket, carrying a blue carrier bag. He spat slightly when he talked and may have some front top teeth missing.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number, of contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers may offer a reward for information which leads to an arrest and charge.
