Street fight further arrest

A third man has been arrested following an incident on Westheath Avenue, in Sunderland City Centre shortly before 5am on Saturday, May 5.
During the street fight a 32-year-old man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital suffering serious head injuries where he is still receiving treatment.
Two men aged 21 and 25 years who were initially arrested have been released with no further police action. A third man, aged 24, has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is currently helping police with their enquiries.
Enquiries are continuing and officers are still appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
