Man injured after assault in Wallsend

Police are appealing for information after a man sustained serious head injuries after an assault in Wallsend.

At 2:45pm on Friday, June 8, police received a report of a man with serious head injuries at an address in Park Road.

Officers attended and the 20-year-old man was taken to hospital with a bleed to the brain and serious facial injuries.

He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The victim was assaulted inside of the house shortly before 2:45pm and officers are appealing for anyone who may seen or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the attack to contact them with any information.

It is believed that the victim and the offender were known to each other.

Police are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
