Burglary and officers injured

Officers were called to Carlisle Way, Holystone, in North Tyneside at 4.44am on Saturday, October 6, following reports of a house being burgled.
Officers attended the address and as they drove into the street a car left the scene and collided with the approaching police patrol car.
Two police officers were in the car suffered injuries and the police vehicle has received substantial damage. One officer has concussion the other whiplash, both were taken to North Tyneside Hospital where they received treatment and later discharged they are recovering at home.
The car, a Vauxhall Insignia which had been stolen in a burglary, drove off causing damage to a white tipper truck parked in the street. Other officers attended and began a search of the area and the stolen vehicle was located nearby.
Two men aged 40 and 56 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary. Property has been recovered which is suspected of being stolen in the burglary. No one else was injured during the incident.
