Man assaulted

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 35-year-old Houghton man.
The incident happened outside in Church Street, Houghton on Saturday, October 6, at approximately 11.05pm.
The man was assaulted and was taken by ambulance to Sunderland Royal Hospital, suffering head and other injuries. His condition is not described as life threatening.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at this time and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact officers.
Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of assault and are helping police with their enquiries.
