Two charged after Newcastle rape

This is an update to previous messages about a rape in Newcastle, which happened at about 5am on Sunday, October 14, in the rear lane of the Old Assembly Rooms next to the entrance of the Newgate Hotel car park. Two men have now been charged with this offence.

Police investigating an incident where a teenager was raped in Newcastle are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
The attack happened at around 5am, on Sunday, October 14, in the rear lane of the Old Assembly Rooms next to the entrance of the Newgate Hotel car park.
Officers are asking anyone who was in the area of the Old Assembly Rooms between 2am and 5am on Sunday morning to contact them.
The 17-year-old victim victim was wearing a bright purple dress and officers are also keen to speak to anyone who remembers seeing someone in a purple dress.
Detective Inspector Paul Race, from Northumbria Police Rape Investigation Team, said: "We're carrying out enquiries to piece together the events leading up to this incident and want to hear from anyone who was in or around the Old Assembly Rooms between 2am and 5am on Sunday morning.
"We want people to think back and if they think they have any information that could help we want them to get in contact."
