Scores of shoppers visited the 'Respect' roadshow event at Park View shopping centre to pick up advice.

The community safety event brought together stalls from Whitley Bay Neighbourhood Policing Team, North Tyneside Council's Safer Estates Team, Victim Support and other partner agencies including Kier, Places for People, Age UK, Victim Support, North East Council for Addictions, North Tyneside Primary Care Trust, Home Group, PROPS (substance misuse in families), giving advice for the general public.

These organisations are also taking part in Operation Respect which aims to promote safe communities and effectively tackle anti-social behaviour in local neighbourhoods.

Neighbourhood Inspector Jim Gray said: "These community events help people get the advice and help they need while doing their shopping. It's great to see a variety of organisations all under one roof to make it easy for residents to get what they need."
