Collision on the Great North Road

Police are appealing for information after a collision in Newcastle.
At 2.27am this morning, Thursday November 1, we received a report of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the Great North Road, Newcastle.
Police and ambulance crews attended the scene and a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
He is currently in a critical condition and his injuries are thought to be life threatening.
The car involved in the collision - a silver coloured hatch back - left the scene after the incident. Officers have now located the car.
Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident - three men aged 20 and two women both aged 21.
Anyone who was in the Great North Road area of Newcastle in the early hours of this morning, or anyone who may have seen a silver hatch back anywhere near the location of the incident is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
