Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an assault in Newcastle.

Around 3am on Sunday March 3 three men from a stag party went into the Subway sandwich shop at Collingwood House in Newcastle.

As they stood waiting, two other men walked in and jumped in front of them in the queue. The stag party complained to the men about their pushing in and an argument followed.

Door staff then threw out all five men and the argument seems to have continued in the street.

One of the queue jumpers then punched one of the stag party in the face, fracturing his jaw. The 25-year-old man from the Manchester area remains in the RVI.

The attacker and his friend then walked off towards the High level Bridge. Both men are described as being black or of mixed race.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the assault to contact officers on the 101 non-emergency number, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
