890 PC Brian Simpson

I joined Northumbria Police in 2000 and have worked in Gateshead Area Command in various roles. Since October 2005 I have held the post of Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the Bensham and Saltwell areas. My specific area of responsibility is Bensham, in particular the Avenues area where I work closely with local service providers, community groups,  minority groups, Gateshead Jewish community and other agencies.

My role as a Neighbourhood Beat Manager is to meet the needs of local communities, uphold the protection of life and property, maintain peace and encourage the reduction and prevention of crime through:-

  • Identifying of problems of crime, disorder and other quality of life issues experienced by all sections of the local community, particularly vulnerable groups

  • Problem solving initiatives aimed at addressing the underlying causes of many of these issues

  • Providing a highly visible uniformed presence, aimed at reassuring the local community and reducing the fear of crime.

I am keen to build close ties with the people who live and work in the Bensham and Saltwell areas of Gateshead so please do get in touch if you have any policing issues you want to bring to my attention.
