Neighbourhood priorities
Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.
The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:
1. May 2012: House burglary
"What you told us"
There has been reports of house burglary in the area.
This type of crime is very emotive and causes the most concern with our residents.
"What we are doing about it"
The chances of being a victim of burglary are very small. However we are doing everything we can to make this risk even smaller.
We are urging people to take on board advice to minimise the risk of becoming a burglary victim:
-
Secure your property even when at home - many people still leave doors unlocked if they are in the house.
-
If you see it report it. If you see any suspicious activity report it, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is you're not wasting our time. Contact the Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
-
Extra resources are in the area. Whenever a burglary problem is identified extra resources are being deployed into the affected areas.
"Keeping you informed"
Since the beginning of 2012 there have been a number of arrests in relation to burglary in the central sector. These people are curently remanded in custody and action has been instigated against tenancies plus we are looking at orders to curtail their offending long term.

"What we are doing about it"
Hotspot areas have been identified within the central area.
Extra resources were deployed into a specific area within Bensham and Carr Hill which had reported the greatest number of youth disorder incidents.
Action was taken against off licences after underage alcohol sales were reported. There is also a programme of licensing visits by the local officers.
"Keeping you informed"
We continue to work with our partners, within Trading Standards, housing and the council to reduce disorder.
