Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. January 2013: Burglaries to houses in and around Coldwell Lane.

"What you told us"

We need to reduce incidents of house burglary in and around Coldwell Lane, Felling.

"What are we doing about it?"

All reported incidents will be treated as a priority by uniformed response officers and specialist Scenes Of Crime Officers.

Neighbourhood officers are being used to carry out focused patrols in the affected areas – to prevent further offences, gather information and reassure the community.
We are working with the Probation Service and other partners to disrupt the activities of suspected offenders.

"Keeping you informed"

We will update the public about any successful arrests, prosecutions and sentencing outcomes using a variety of different media.

2. April 2013: Rowdy and drunken behaviour associated with the Blue Bell pub in Victoria Square, Felling

"What you told us"

During consultation with the local community you told us about your concerns in relation to The Blue Bell Pub – and those who use it.

"What are we doing about it?"

All reported incidents will be treated as a priority by uniformed response officers.

Neighbourhood officers have conducted frequent visits to the pub over Christmas and New Year – in an effort to quell any possibility of disorder and anti-social behaviour.

A joint visit – together with the Licensing Section of Gateshead Council – was conducted on 14 December 2012, during which a number of ‘licensing condition’ breaches were identified.

"Keeping you informed"

Through subsequent discussions with the pub’s owners – The Blue Bell has now been closed since 11 January 2013 – and will not reopen until new tenants are in place.
