Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. Concerns regarding vehicle crime

“What you told us”

Concerns have been raised regarding an increase in Theft from motor vehicles in the area.


“What we are doing about it”

Operation Lock has been implemented to tackle this problem. Tactics that have been utilised include high visibility patrols in the area supported by plain clothes patrols.
Several of the vehicles targeted had been left insecure or with valuables  on display so PC`s and CSO`s have been identifying any insecure vehicles and giving crime prevention advice to owners.  

“Keeping you informed”

Five arrests have been made for Theft from motor vehicles as a result of the this operation patrols and property has been recovered.

Media updates have been released regarding crime prevention and vehicle security.

The number of incidents have significantly reduced.


2. Anti Social Behaviour in public places.

“What you told us”

There is an ongoing issue of disorderly behaviour involving young people in the area of Front Street Whickham which has been raised by local residents and Councillors.

“What we are doing about it”

There have been uniform patrols in these areas targeting this issue.
Direction to leave notices have been issued where appropriate in support of anti social behaviour concerns.
A number of arrests have been made in relation to this priority.
Anti Social behaviour orders are being sought against repeat offenders and referrals are being made to youth services where alcohol is a factor in the behaviour.
 
“Keeping you informed”

There have been 4 arrests made for public order related offences.
Applications have been made for an Acceptable Behaviour Agreement and an Anti Social Behaviour Order in respect of individuals causing these issues.
There have been eight Direction to Leave notices issued.
