Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. Anti-social behaviour and disorder in the Metrocentre bus concourse.

"What you told us"

Stop incidents of disorder at the Metrocentre bus concourse.

"What we are doing about it"

We are working with our partners in Metrocentre Security to carry out extra foot patrols at the times that incidents of disorder occur.

"Keeping you informed"

Officers are deployed to carry out visits to the bus concourse between 8pm and 10pm to provide reassurance to the public and deal firmly with any troublemakers.

2. May 2012: Shoplifting at the MetroCentre.

"What you told us"

We have received reports of shoplifting in the Metrocentre.

"What we are doing about it"

We are working with our partners in Metrocentre Security to reduce the amount of shoplifting crime in the Metrocentre.

Officers carry out preventative patrols looking for criminals as they enter the centre or when inside.

"Keeping you informed"

We aim to eject any criminals before they get a chance to commit crime and those who trespass in the centre in breach of ban will be given a civil recovery bill of about £150 for each time they breach the ban.

We will work with stores to reduce their issues providing a series of tactical options to assist in reducing and preventing crimes occurring in their store.
