Neighbourhood priorities
Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.
The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:
1. Burglary Dwelling
"What you told us"
-
Levels of Burglary to dwellings have remained at similar levels in the Sector to this time last year.
-
The vast majority of those premises targeted were left insecure and entry to them was made easy for the opportunist thief.
-
Burglary will always be a priority for the Gateshead Outer West and will be for the year.
"What we are doing about it"
-
In order to reduce and prevent Burglary we are asking the public to secure their premises ensuring windows and doors are locked when you are out. Leave a light on when you are out at night, consider buying a timer switch for use with a lamp.
-
With the onset of light nights and better weather, if you are enjoying your garden make sure windows and doors you cannot see are locked ie at the front of the house.
-
Don't leave valuables, keys, handbags or wallets on show next to access doors or windows.
-
The police will be conducting high visibility patrols in areas where offences of Burglary occur.
-
We will be targeting key offenders who commit these types of offences. We will be executing search warrants at addresses used by known offenders.
2. Youth Anti-Social Behaviour Ryton
"What you told us"
-
We received a number of calls from the public complaining about Youth Anti-Social Behaviour in Ferndene Park, Ryton and its surrounding area.
"What we are doing about it"
-
The majority of the disorder takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings and during school holidays.
-
We will be conducting high visibility patrols in the area during these times to monitor the behavior of any youths in the area. Any youths found to be in possession of alcohol will have it taken from them and appropriate action will be taken against them by the police.
-
Again appropriate action will be taken against any youths found to be acting in a disorderly manner, whether or not they are in possession of alcohol.
-
We will be working with Trading Standard Officers targeting local Off Licenses that we suspect are selling alcohol to underage teenagers.
-
Prior to school holidays the police will attend local school assemblies and speak to the pupils and warn them of the consequences should they choose to engage in Anti Social Behavior.
-
The police will ask Youth Outreach Workers from the Local Authority to work in the area to provide diversionary activities for local youths.
