Neighbourhood priorities

Northumbria Police aims to meet our commitment to you.

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. May 2012: Anti-social behaviour in and around Easedale Gardens and Trafford shops

"What you told us"

Concerns have been raised from residents about anti-social behaviour around Easedale Gardens and Trafford shops.

"What we are doing about it"

We have undertaken a mixture of high visibility and plain clothed patrols in the area to deter and detect disorder offences of anti-social behaviour. Direction to Leave notices have been issued and there have been a number of alcohol seizures.

We are working with partner agencies to provide diversionary opportunities for young people with the aim of reducing the numbers of those congregating.

Extra patrols have been conducted by Community Support Officers and 'test purchases' have been made at off licences in conjunction with Trading Standards to identify and prosecute those responsible for selling to underage persons. Three establishments were recently prosecuted for underage sales. One of these has had its license revoked.

"Keeping you informed"

Residents have been questioned about their concerns in the area and an action plan has been compiled to deal with these concerns. Several persons have been prosecuted for disorder related offences.

Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) are used for the worst offenders so that police stop them causing anti-social behaviour to protect the neighbourhood. There have been 3 recent arrests for breaching these orders.

Residents have been revisited and reassured with regards to police activity and the organisation’s commitment to the problem.

Several people have been prosecuted for disorder related offences.
